High-compression variant designed for turbo AAN and 3B engines running race gas or E85 with standalone management. Installs with ~0.030" positive deck and must be paired with a Victor Reinz MLS gasket (~0.070" compressed).
Do not use these pistons in any turbocharged engine that will ever run on pump gasoline.
Wiseco Custom Forged Pistons
FRP's forged pistons for Audi and VW turbo engines are manufactured by Wiseco Performance Products using tough 2618 alloy and the latest strut-type forgings. The design reduces overall weight and concentrates material where it matters—crown and pin boss—while lowering friction in the bore.
Key design touches include optimized valve pocket angles (depth and diameter) to safely accommodate oversize intake valves and high-lift cams, a standard gas accumulator groove, and a dome shape that promotes turbulence and mixture homogeneity in the chamber.
The strutted forging allows very short (2") wrist pins. Supplied pins are high-grade tool-steel, taper-bore pieces weighing only 63 g each. Their short, rigid design supports extreme cylinder pressure without prematurely wearing the rod small-end bushing. With a standard 20 mm (0.787") pin diameter, these pistons work with both stock and aftermarket rods.
FRP pistons include low-friction skirt coatings as standard and can be ordered with a heat-rejecting ceramic dome coating. Installed at zero deck height, they deliver a static compression ratio of 9.1:1 when used with standard replacement MLS head gaskets.
Supplied with ultra-precision NPR ring sets: 1.0 mm gas-nitrided stainless top ring, 1.2 mm Napier-hook second ring, and 2.8 mm standard-tension oil ring. Rated for up to 40 psi boost and approximately 225 hp per cylinder, in 82, 82.5, and 83 mm bores with the 86.4 mm stroke. Stroker applications are available by special order.
