FRP/ATI Super Damper for Audi I5

The FRP/ATI Super Damper is a true racing damper for extreme-output Audi 5-cylinder engines, identical in concept to the crank dampers used across NASCAR Cup and NHRA Pro Stock. Rated for 1,150 hp and 10,000 rpm.

It must be used with a dry sump or external oil pump system. The mounting hub presses over the full length of the crank nose and runs solid against the front main journal, with a seal race sized for a common big-block Chevy timing cover seal. Required crank mods are removal of the stock oil pump drive lever and broaching the nose for a 3/16" hardened woodruff key.

Integral Belt Drive

A key feature of the FRP/ATI Super Damper is the integral timing belt drive machined into the hub. This eliminates the failure-prone multi-piece drives used on stock 3B/AAN engines. The hub can be supplied with a 25 mm wide belt drive or configured for the stock 19 mm belt at no additional cost.

The damper can be ordered with a smooth outer shell (as shown) or a serpentine shell for driving crank-mounted accessories. On the serpentine version, the belt grooves align with the stock Audi AAN crank damper plane.

A matching dry-sump drive mandrel bolts directly to the front of the balancer and is available as an option.
