FRP Engineering offers a true race-grade 92.8 or 95.5 stroke crankshaft for Audi 5-cylinder engines, manufactured in the United States exclusively for FRP by Crower Cams and Equipment.
Machined from Timken 4340 de-gassed billet steel, this crank delivers elevated torsional stiffness and load capacity with upgraded material quality, heat-treating, and broad fillet-style journal radii compared to the undercut J-radius factory crank. The increased stiffness also reduces stress on factory dampers and hardware.
Full-radius counterweights place balance mass correctly relative to the rod pins, minimizing harmonics over a wide RPM range. Cranks are zero-balanced to a 720 g bobweight, ideal for typical aftermarket piston/rod combinations, so only minor adjustments are usually required during engine assembly.
Finish grinding tolerances are held to 0.0001" with concentric, flat journals, and ion nitriding ensures excellent material stability and toughness.
Aero counterweights are standard. Super-finished journals available on request. Cranks can be supplied with or without the factory oil pump drive lever installed.
